‘Blimey,’ he reacted. ‘All I can say is that if this chap Adrian Morley did the old nurse in he must be clean off his nut. It only seems a possibility because there just isn’t a sniff of another lead up to now, is there? The chap we’ve left on to deal with any reports coming in has just told me there hasn’t been a single one. Not even a hoax try-on. Well, Super, good hunting and we’ll keep at it down here. Get on to the Yard in a split second if anything turns up.’

‘We know we can rely on that all right,’ Pollard said. ‘I only wish it would.’
